Bob Marley’s family has apparently entered into a global merchandising deal with private equity firm Hilco to bring a host of licensed Marley products to the market, BBC News reports.

Marley’s daughter Cedella Marley said the family was ‘open to licensing just about everything’, though her father’s message would always remain at the core of the big money deals.

A variety of different licensed products have been mentioned, from branded coffee and lager to spas, hotels and cafes around the world, as well as stationary, luggage and, of course, video games.

Considering the massive success of music rhythm games lately, such as Tap Tap Revenge (which has already dabbled in licensing songs from specific bands), Guitar Rock Tour and Guitar Hero, it seems to be a pretty reasonable expectation that Bob Marley’s music will soon be making its way onto gaming systems.

According to the report, an unofficial 'bootlegging' industry featuring Marley's music and image is currently worth around £415 million a year - something the family intends to put a stop to.

Currently there hasn’t been any specific information released about which direction Marley merchandise will go in first, but music games are practically a foregone conclusion. Watch this space.

One love.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
