Of the best reviewed iPhone games of 2009, Realnetworks' GameHouse division has finally got around to updating Tiki Towers.

Released as a universal app, Tiki Towers 2, sees you building structures out of your limited supplies of bamboo and coconuts so that hordes of monkeys can make their way across the 2D jungle levels, picking up bonus bananas and other items as they swing.

Apes escape

The game, which has you traveling through a treacherous monkey republic to defeat a crazy gorilla dictator and win back your sacred treasures, is spread across 30 levels of water, lava and other platforming hazards.

As well as bamboo, the physics puzzler also mixes up the available building blocks and the way you have to use them, providing options such as vines, magnets and bolts with which to construct bridges.

Giving the original release a Pocket Gamer 9/10 Gold award, Chris said, "More fun than a box of monkeys, this puzzler swings straight to the top of the iPhone tree," and we certainly hope the sequel is equally entertaining.

Tiki Towers 2 is out now for iPhone and iPad, priced $2.99, €2.39 or £1.79.
