Nokia Tube HAS games - we've played them

N-Gage support 'in the pipeline', too

Nokia Tube HAS games - we've played them

Well, only a few minutes ago we were lamenting the fact that Nokia's new Tube aka 5800 XpressMusic touchscreen handset didn't appear overly concerned with gaming.

Shall we backtrack?

Because having cornered a company rep during the Nokia Remix London event we've now got a different perspective on things. For one, the 5800 comes with two games preloaded: Bounce, which is similar in both looks and concept to Bounce Boing Voyage on N-Gage, and an accelerometer-based racing game we didn't catch the name of. Sorry.

But this will make up for that. Remember that plectrum that comes attached with the 5800 we told you about (see the pic if you don't believe us)? Well, you obviously use it as a stylus on the touchscreen, but it comes into its own when playing Guitar Rock Tour, as we found out.

And Gameloft's rhythm-action game is only the first to appear on the 5800 – Nokia says more games are coming.

It also says, and this is important, that N-Gage is "in the pipeline" but won't be available from the handset's launch. Certainly, Bounce suggests the 5800 won't have trouble handling N-Gage quality titles and the fact that developers haven't had much time with the handset – the 5800 SDK only went out to teams two to three weeks ago – means the results thus far are encouraging.

We'll have more on the Tube's gaming abilities later so click 'Track It!' to be kept up to date.
