Disney announces LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean for DS, 3DS and PSP

A consortium of gigantic studios, namely Disney, LEGO and Warner-owned developer TT Games, have gotten together and smushed Johnny Depp into a tiny, plastic mini-figure for LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game.

Much like the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter and Batman Lego games before it, Pirates lets you play out the iconic scenes from all four blockbuster flicks, but replaces the scenery with LEGO bricks, the people with mini-figures and the witty writing with absurd, slapstick comedy.

All at sea

You get to play as more than 70 different characters, across 20 levels, and, of course, choose whether to tackle the adventure alone or team up with a pal.

There’s also a free-play mode so you can return to levels and discover new items.

It’s all about drumming up attention for the upcoming movie, which is released May 2011. There’s some Pirates of the Caribbean LEGO sets, coming out too.

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game will be released simultaneously on Nintendo DS and 3DS, Sony PSP and a bunch of those home consoles everyone’s always on about.
