Infinity Blade's gesture-based pre-canned camera gameplay revealed
Still looking sharp
It's clear that Chair and Epic's Infinity Blade will be the most anticipated iPhone and iPad game of 2010 - assuming they can get it released before the end of the year.
Visually it looks stunning, but we're still not entirely sure about key gameplay issues.
More information can be gleaned however from the first video footage, which has just been released.
Sign of the crossThis shows the small player character taking on huge bosses - all swinging swords, battleaxes and particle effects.
We do get to see someone controlling the character though. This shows that - as expected - the dynamic camera is pre-canned, and the character effectively static in terms of movement, with the real gameplay involving gesture controls to pull off the various moves.
It's difficult to tell just how complex the gestures are, but basic up-down, and across swipes are used, as are diagonals, and what looks like an infinity sign.
Pay and displayIn addition, the game displays its shop system, which has you using your XP points and (in-game $) to buy armour and swords, which boost your stats and change the look of your character. After all, this is an action RPG.
Another clue as to the structure is the description - "Set in a breathtaking 3D castle realm for you to conquer" - which suggests you'll move around the location seen in the Epic Citadel app, fighting different enemies in different locations.
