French mobile developer Mobigame walked away with two awards at the IMG Awards this afternoon at Mobile World Congress, thanks to its iPhone and mobile game EDGE.

It won the Excellence in Gameplay award and the Operator's Choice award, with the latter being voted for by a panel representing Orange, Vodafone and T-Mobile.

Also scooping awards were Aussie developer Firemint with Real Racing, its yet-to-be-released iPhone racing game, which bagged the Excellence in Connectivity award.

German firm Urban Team won the Best Real World Game award with FastFoot-Challenge, a game that gets people chasing each other around real-world locations.

Finnish company Secret Exit won the Excellence in 3D award with their upcoming iPhone puzzler Zen Bound. And RealArcade bagged the Best Casual Game gong for the monkey-tastic Tropical Towers.

Finally, the People's Choice award, voted for by visitors to the IMGA website, went to iPhone hack'n'slash game Kroll, from Spanish firm Digital Legends.

France, Australia, Germany, Finland, Spain… It's a cosmopolitan bunch of winners, for sure.

And it's notable that four of the five winners are available on iPhone – more evidence that developers are seeing Apple's handset as a key device to take their innovative ideas to.
