Friday Freebie: PSP goes demo daft with Crystal Defenders, Pixel Junk Monsters Deluxe and LocoRoco Midnight Carnival...
...while the iPhone gets set to Eliminate
Product: Friday Freebie | Publisher: Steel Media
Ah PSP, it's good to have you back to your old self. In fact, now that you're back in your stride, you're better than you ever were. It's almost like you never left.

Why all the gushing love (I beg your pardon? -ed)? Well, on the European PSP Store this week, there are new demos of Crystal Defenders, Pixel Junk Monsters Deluxe and LocoRoco Midnight Carnival. That's three top quality freebie slices of PSP gaming and not a single Japanese word in sight, so you can put away that tattered Spoken Japanese dictionary.

This comes on the back of two other high-class demos, Valkyria Chronicles 2 and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, which arrived on the platform just seven days ago. If there are more demos next week, we might insist that all Pocket Gamer employees get UMD drives grafted to their foreheads as a mark of homage.

Maybe not, but it's certainly a colourful image.

Anyway, the DS has nothing this week so we are going to ignore it in the vain hope that our indifference might somehow passively cajole the DS into making a shouty bid for our attention.

Needless to say, we're not holding our breath for Nintendo to start mailing out demo carts of The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks to all DS owners within the next seven days, but you never know.

On the iPhone, we have our usual list of freebie game recommendations in The free iPhone game Trawler Report, as well as a separate recommendation for the game everyone's talking about - Eliminate.

It may be free to download, but take heed, those in-app purchases can be addictive. We very nearly lost both Jon Jordan and Tracy Erickson to homelessness this week as a result of their new found addictions. You have been warned.

There's our free audio iPhone gaming podcast to download and enjoy, too. If you haven't yet, give it a try - it's really good, even if we do say so ourselves.

Last of all, if you haven't followed us on Twitter yet, remember there's no better time than now to do so, as you'll be automatically entered into a prize draw to win £20 of Amazon vouchers as we make a play for our 2000th follower.

That's all for now. Don't forget to click 'Track It!' to be sure not to miss next week's spread. Have a good weekend!
