Let's get one thing straight. Russian developer Gaijin has probably chosen the wrong name for this game.

It's nothing to do with Scotland or Mel Gibson. Instead this Braveheart is an action RPG that has you on a search for that old medieval favourite Holy Grail. Which is protected by a large dragon.

Oh, and you're a brave knight called Richard, who's armed with a laser gun.

Enter the lowlands

Still, despite the branding confusion, it looks fairly decent, in terms of the released screenshots and video at least.

Control might seems to be an issue though as it appears you don't have direct control over Richard, instead tapping where you want him to move to, and only being able to attack when you're static.

Ten weapons such as lasers, hammers and crossbows, as well as magic spells to trigger fireballs or lightning will be available.

It also looks like it will provide some inventory and role-playing levelling up options, as well as plenty of achievements.

Expect more details to become available before Braveheart is released for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad in December.

You can see how it plays in the following video.
