HeroCraft ports Black Shark 2 to Google's Android
Using the preview version of the mobile tech
We have to give it to Russian mobile publisher HeroCraft - it doesn't mess around with moral subtleties.
"Terrorists are also people, and they also like skiing resorts during quiet snowy winters…" starts the seemingly reconciliatory, but slightly leading introduction to its side-scrolling copter blaster sequel, Black Shark 2: Siberia. It goes on...
"Black Shark will face eternal ice, hundreds of units of well-trained enemy infantry and engines, one hundred thousand cannons and bombs, the invulnerable supersonic fighter Su-27 and the atomic submarine 'Red October'."
Eternal ice, one hundred thousand cannons and bombs and an invulnerable fighter... yikes. How will we survive?
Well, the final instructions are anything but ambiguous - "Kill them all has to become the main principle for you".
Alrighty... [Backs away, smiling]
We quite enjoyed the original game though, and hope this one proves a similar feast of explosive fun, although perhaps without overly formalising the concept of killing of holidaying terrorists.
Much more significant however is the fact that HeroCraft clearly doesn't mess around when it comes to technology either. Despite the main version of the game being created using Java, it's already been ported to Google's upcoming mobile platform, Android, despite the fact only a preview version of the technology has so far been released.
You can check out the difference between the two versions, which we assume is more than the obvious differences of aspect ratio, thanks to YouTube footage provided by HeroCraft. This is the Java version:
