Angry Birds addicts rejoice - the update for Angry Birds Rio is now live on the App Store, providing 30 new levels of frustration and fun.

You’ll need to have completed the Smugglers’ Den and Jungle Escape stages to access Beach Volley, but there’s plenty of new stuff waiting for you when you do.

This time you’ll be taking on the kleptomaniac monkeys from the DreamWorks animated film - and you’ll have the assistance of the movie’s parrot protagonists Blu and Jewel.

The feathered friends remain joined at the foot (as they were in the very last level of the previous set) but they’ll appear more frequently here, with their powerful horizontal dive-attack likely to be a very useful weapon against the simian stealers.

Meanwhile, the new tropical secret to uncover is the golden coconut, replacing the bananas and pineapples from the previous levels.

Once you’re done with the new stages, it seems you won’t have long to wait for your next Angry Birds fix. Yesterday, Rovio confirmed via its Twitter feed that new “regular” stages would be coming “later this month”.

If you fancy a quick tease of what you can expect from the new stages, the official Beach Volley update trailer can be viewed below.
