Developer a-steroids has announced an update for its Samsung Wave debut Vampire Rush.

The horror-themed game is a novel blend of tower defence and hack 'n' slash adventure, and manages to blend the two disparate elements into a satisfying and coherent whole.

Raising the stakes

The free update introduces two new levels, collectable chests containing gold or health boosts, and a high score table for each dungeon that should add some replay value.

Perhaps more importantly, the difficulty level has been tweaked to provide a shallower learning curve, though a-steroids has promised that the later dungeons will still provide a decent challenge.

Vampire Rush 1.1 has been submitted to Samsung Apps for approval, and is expected to go live soon after 7 November.
