Can you have too many Sudoku games for the iPad?

It all depends on the 'you' I guess.

Most people will stick with one decent version, but there's enough people out there that the market dictates plenty of developers will release a version in the hope of carving out an audience.

At least, Uni Sudoku, from David Ross, has form, having been previously released for Mac, as well as for iPhone and iPod touch, back in May 2009.

The new iPad version comes courtesy of an update which sees the game become a universal app, so if you've already got the iPhone version, it will now work on your iPad.

Filling in the gaps

The interface is clean and easy to use, with simple options to select between the five difficulty levels. There are 10,000 puzzles, plus the option to enter your own customised examples.

To enter a number, you just draw it onscreen, or tap in the different quadrants of any open square to add pencil marks while you're working out which number goes where.

There's also a timer so you can see how long it takes you to complete each grid.

Uni Sudoku is out now for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. It costs $2.99, €2.39 or £1.79.
