Other than a teaser trailer and the fact that iPhone publisher extraordinaire Chillingo is on board, not a great deal has been revealed about Kinleco's surreal new iPhone shooter, Underground.

Chillingo has just been in touch to give us a few more details on what we can expect from this hallucinogenic, graffiti-based shoot-'em-up.

Underground casts you in the role of a graffiti writer on a dark journey of self discovery on the underground transport system, attempting to restore the previous art crime.

The story unfolds as you stop at each of the 3D rendered subway stations, and promises something of a psychological horror theme shoring up the classical 2D side scrolling shmup action.

Much of Underground's street art comes from renowned graffiti artist Mr Frames, whose previous commissions include MTV, the BBC and Royal Academy of Arts.

It also includes an original hip-hop music score composed by Pp3d, which blends a superb acid house aesthetic with a dark urban overtone (head on over to the official website for a sneak preview of the superb soundtrack).

We're hoping Underground will be with us very shortly, so keep an ear to the subway tracks and more news as it comes in.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
