Annie, grab your Uzi. There's 32 zombies onscreen in iPhone's Undead: The Last Refuge

With Activision's Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies one of the hit iPhone games of 2009, it's been a surprise there haven't been more first person shooters of a similar type.

Well, here comes some relentless brain eating competition, in the shambling form of Undead: The Last Refuge from French developer Magic Pockets and French publisher Bulkypix.

Due for release any day now on iPhone and iPod touch, it's a typical first person survival shooter where you take on hordes of zombies who are coming to tear you apart.

It's a coachload

Indeed, we're informed that up to 32 zombies can be displayed onscreen simultaneously so we hope there's an equivalently fast firing machine gun available.

Unlike Call of Duty, this is a single player experience however, with social interaction coming in the shape of OpenFeint interaction.

This will enable you to post highscores, as well as challenge your friends and inform Facebook and Twitter followers about just how you are or aren't doing.
