Ubisoft announces Imagine, its young girl gaming label

As we've obviously never been a 13-year-old girl, it would be dangerous to try and second guess Ubisoft's decision to launch a DS and Wii games label specifically for girls aged 6- to 14-years-old.

So instead, we'll just turn to Ubisoft's senior director of marketing, Helene Juguet, for inspiration. "Our consumer research revealed that the young girls' market has been relatively overlooked," she says, her office presumably decorated with posters of Beyoncé and Justin Timberlake. "We're happy to introduce a variety of titles relevant to what girls in this age group have indicated they are most interested in."

It's hardly an unusual move for Ubisoft. Indeed, over the past 12 months the publisher has announced several different DS game brands, with the Petz range being one element. The recently announced My Life/Word Coach games were also said to be the first fruits of the company's adult-oriented mass market DS label.

As for Imagine, the series of games will include titles such as the previously announced Fashion Designer, as well as games like Animal Doctor, Babyz, Master Chef (not Master Chief, in case Halo lovers get unnecessarily excited) and Figure Skater.

Expect the first games in the Imagine series to be released in October.
