PS Vita's first free-to-play title Treasures of Montezuma Blitz lands on the PlayStation Store

A little later than expected, the PS Vita's very first free-to-play title, Treasures of Montezuma Blitz, is available to download from the PlayStation Store.

In fact, according to a press release sent out by the game's publisher, Treasures of Montezuma Blitz is the world's first - not including MMOs - console game to be offered completely free of charge with "freemium options".

This match-three puzzler takes full advantage of the PS Vita's hardware, including its front- and rear-facing touch panels and its accelerometer.

Token gesture

In an interview with Pocket Gamer back in January, developer SPL revealed that the rear touchscreen can be used in special game modes that players can enter on occasion, with the accelerometer altering the direction in which the game's tokens fall onto the playing field.

Treasures of Montezuma Blitz is on Sony's PSN Store in Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand, so head on over there and check it out.

It's expected to slide into the US sometime in April.
