Transformers mobile game on the way

Glu Mobile prime suspects as official movie tie-in gears up for summer '07 launch

Transformers mobile game on the way

Fans of heavy-goods-vehicles that turn into bloomin' big robots should rejoice: Glu Mobile is producing a mobile game based on Transformers. The game will be out next summer to tie in with a new live-action movie which is being executive-produced by Steven Spielberg - which hopefully means at least one scene where Optimus Prime gets drunk and/or rides over the moon on a bike.

With such a long time before the game comes out, there are precious few details on what form it will take. "We believe that the legendary clashes between the Autobots and Decepticons will help spread the word that with the mobile phone, there really is 'more than meets the eye," said Glu's Jill Braff, with admirable theme-tune-quoting skills.

Two can play at that game though. It's fair to say that Glu has a patchy record when it comes to robotic-themed-movie-games, having released an underwhelming mobile game based on Robots last year. Hopefully the Transformers game will be better. After all, it'd be a shame if it was just, wait for it, Robots in disguise. Ho ho.
