Tour de France 2010 pedals onto iPhone

It's a marathon, not a sprint

Tour de France 2010 pedals onto iPhone

On what’s fast turning out to be quite a news day for fans of two wheeled racing, in Moto GP 2010’s slipstream pedals Tour de France 2010.

This officially-licensed title from French outfit (funnily enough) EXTRA LIVE is actually part racer, part real-time strategy.

The company's 2009 offering on mobile received our coveted Silver Award, so the expectation this time around is naturally high.

A virtual pedal and gear mechanism propels you up the peloton, but that’s only half the battle. To ensure victory, the race and pack strategy for each section must be perfectly devised and executed.

BPM meets RPM

In a further tactical twist, your rider’s energy and exertion can be managed en route utilising data from previous Tours to accurately simulate your fitness levels.

All of the Tour’s 21 stages – from heart-stopping sprints and testing time trials to arduous mountain climbs – are faithfully recreated, with the green, polka dot, and, of course, yellow jerseys up for grabs.

And after almost 3,600km of gruelling action and incredible effort, why not sit back and watch the professionals on the gogglebox, working their socks off for real!

Tour de France 2010 is available on the App Store now at the special launch price of 99c / 59p / €0.79.
