Touchgrind BMX for iOS gets an update, performance affected on Retina display

Illusion Labs has released a v1.1 update for iPhone title Touchgrind BMX, adding support for newer iOS devices with Retina displays, and fixing a bug on startup.

However, the update doesn’t come without its problems: Pocket Gamer’s Mark Brown, who gave the game a Bronze Award in his review last week, has confirmed that setting your iPhone or iPod touch to Retina mode in the device’s settings does mean the framerate takes a small but noticeable hit.

In fairness to Illusion, it does add the disclaimer: “Note: Retina may lower framerate!” in both the settings and when the game starts, while the default setting is ‘off’. So it's up to you whether you fancy trading sharper visuals for marginally weaker performance.

Hopefully, the developer will be able to smooth it out in a future update.
