Top Spin 3 gets lobbed to DS
Federer, Sharapova and co double up on dual-screen
We knew Top Spin 3 was coming but we hadn't known until now it was coming, for the first time, to DS. Publisher 2K Sports has distributed a press release for the handheld version (alongside Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii), though, so it must be true.
The game looks set to deliver an all-star cast of players, including Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, Boris Becker and Monica Seles. But if you don't fancy playing as a character with ginger hair or one with an annoyingly loud grunt, you can also create your own unique tennis star using the game's Player Creator mode – although we're not too sure how comprehensive this will be in the DS version.
In total, 40 prestigious tennis-playing venues from around the world feature in the game, from the French Open's Roland Garros to the Australian Open's Rod Laver Arena.
Multiplayer modes enable you to play against friends and possibly in ranked matches with players from around the world, if the DS supports the online play the other versions are promising.
Top Spin 3 is scheduled for release this spring, so in plenty of time to enjoy alongside Wimbledon with a tub of strawberries. There's no DS screenshots of it in action yet, but we hope to net ourselves some soon.
