It's both good news and bad news from SCi/Eidos today as it confirms the forthcoming Tomb Raider: Underworld is now coming to three more platforms, including DS.

Lara's next outing was originally confirmed only for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, but now DS, Wii and PS2 have been added to this line-up.

The bad news though? Firstly, there's no word of a PSP version of the game, despite the previous Tomb Raider Anniversary and Tomb Raider Legend games appearing on the console.

And secondly, the game has slipped from its previously expected release date of spring 2008 to the end of the year, so it will now be one of the big games for Christmas 2008 instead.

Part of the decision to hold the game back could be related to recent news that SCi is no longer looking to merge with other publishers. It's stated that although offers were entertained from various companies (Ubisoft and Warner Bros were rumoured), no formal offers were received within the timeframe requested, hence the possibility of a buy-out is, for now, over.

In the meantime while little has been seen as yet of Tomb Raider: Underworld, we'll be following news of the DS version very closely.
