Thrillville: Off the Rails careering towards DS and PSP

LucasArts has announced a sequel to Thrillville is due this October for both Sony and Nintendo handhelds (as well as home consoles). Subtitled Off the Rails, this latest iteration in the popular new franchise promises to enhance every aspect of the original game.

As such, expect 20 death-defying, underwear-soiling rides to form part of your park building repertoire. These appropriately named 'WHOA Coasters', which you'll be responsible for constructing yourself, can leap from one track to another, launch through the air like a cannonball, blast through rings of fire and more.

Tying the experience together is a lighthearted story promising more than 100 missions, together with 34 playable multiplayer theme-park games and improved social interaction with park guests.

Apparently, the in-depth conversations both advance the plot and suggest better ways to manage the park. But watch out, as not everyone is likely to be who they seem – rivals from the nefarious Globo-Joy might well attempt to sabotage your park by offering deceptive information.

"Between its amazing new WHOA Coasters, improved socialization, and a huge selection of mini-games, Thrillville: Off the Rails is practically three great games in one, and it offers a fantastic bang for the buck," said Jim Ward, president of LucasArts, doubtless trying to stop himself from being sick on the person sat next to him.

And that co-rider is none other than David Braben. "Together, LucasArts and Frontier challenged ourselves to improve upon everything that made the original Thrillville such a success," screamed the Frontier Developments chairman and founder, we imagine, while throwing his hands in the air. "I believe that we have more than met this challenge, and I wouldn't be surprised if Thrillville achieves some 'record attendance' with Off the Rails."
