If you've visited a tech website over the past week or two, you'll know that Apple's new iPad can get a little warm while you're using it.

In fact, if you were to believe the more melodramatic sections of the sensationalist media, the new tablet can be used to fry an egg, start a small fire, and scald young children when they've been naughty.

You shouldn't believe everything you read, though.

Website Wired has tested the new iPad along with its predecessor (the iPad 2) and four of its rivals - the Asus Transformer Prime, Kindle Fire, Blackberry PlayBook, and Acer Iconia Tab A200 - to see which tablet gives off the most heat.

The Asus Transformer Prime, Kindle Fire, and Blackberry PlayBook all hit higher temperatures than Apple's new iPad when running monster-filled horror title Dead Space for 30 minutes.

You can check out the full results in the table below, which shows each tablet's temperature in Fahrenheit.
