Apple's new iPad gets jailbroken on its release day

No ETA for public release

Apple's new iPad gets jailbroken on its release day

Good news, budding jailbreakers: Apple's third-generation iPad has already been breached. In fact, the all-new tablet was compromised on the day it was released.

Well-known iPhone (and iPad) hacker MuscleNerd has posted a couple of photos of his iPad on Twitter that show the Cydia app store running on the slate.

Unfortunately, according to the tweet that accompanied the photos, this is only the "first step", and there's still "lots of work" to do before the exploit can be released to the public. There isn't even an ETA.

So, if you own one of Apple's new iPads, you'll have to wait another few weeks (or possibly longer) before you can install SBSettings, iFile, and any other handy tweaks that tickle your fancy.
