According to 9to5Mac, an "Apple Store source who has been reliable in the past" has revealed that Apple is currently preparing for a big Apple Store event that will climax on March 16th - the same day the Cupertino-based company opens new stores in both London and Texas.

Given that Apple is expected to announce an all-new tablet later today, it's believed that this date will mark the arrival of the next-generation iPad.

If recent rumours are to be believed, the next iteration of Apple's touchscreen tablet won't be called the 'iPad 3': instead, it will carry an 'HD' moniker.

Reuters, meanwhile, believes the next iPad will feature 4G LTE connectivity.

9to5Mac's source also claims that Apple will host a second hardware launch event a week after the purported debut of the next iPad.

Unfortunately, the website's source had "no further information on the the subject matter".

This secondary event could be for Apple's heavily rumoured iTV.
