Creepy DS horror adventure Theresia coming to US
Dementium: The Ward gets some competition
Publisher Aksys Games has today announced it will be releasing its DS adventure horror Theresia - previously only available in Japan - in North America.
The game has players taking on the roles of one male and one female character who are both trying to escape from their captors while searching for the true meaning of Theresia.
Cue lots of creepy goings-on as you traipse about mazes and dark corridors patrolled by these 'captors'. All the stereotypical survival horror skills are called into play, with items that need finding and combining in order to solve puzzles and travel further into the maze.
There are also two plots which sound like they could up there in terms of spine-chilling twistiness with Silent Hill's. In the first you're discovering the warped relationship between a mother and daughter and how the daughter was raised "from the ashes of war and torture".
The story of the second follows a doctor protagonist who is also the owner of a local orphanage who develops a vaccine to cure the kids in his care. Unfortunately his discovery comes at a cost and he's left trying to atone for his mistake or face ending mankind.
Michael Manzanares, Project Lead at Aksys says of the game: "Players will lose themselves in Theresia's haunting music and twisted atmosphere. If you're looking for an emotional scare in an adventure this fall, Theresia should fill your need nicely."
Let's hope so. Theresia is set to ramp up the scares on DS in North America this autumn. We have our fingers crossed a European release will follow.
