With the new series kicking off on ITV (and public interest in reality music shows rejuvenated thanks to Peter Kay) Namco Bandai has announced the official mobile game of this year's The X Factor.

The long road to stardom begins with the auditions, followed by a host of mini-games designed to test how good you sound, how awesome you look and how much of your free time you're willing to dedicate to the show.

Last year's official game was lacking that essential 'PG' factor, but hopefully the choreography, singing, fashion, groove and fan maintenance aspects of The X Factor 2008 will ensure this one gets past the judges. The game also promises a significant amount of fame and recognition in the form of magazine articles, messages from family and media, and comments on fan-run publications.

Quite what this does for the game is unclear as yet, but wallowing in the media frenzy is a huge part of the show, so it's good to see it included in the game.

Due for imminent release, cast your vote now by hitting the 'Track It!' button and we'll keep you updated.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
