Boldy going where no mobile game has gone before

The Intergalactic Trading Company brings final frontier to phones

It's not exactly The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, but The Intergalactic Trading Company (aka ITC) might at least enable you to hitchhike with the galaxy in your pocket.

Indeed, the latest mobile game from Czech-based developer Impossible promises not one, but two completely unique galaxies to explore – generated every time you start a new game.

Given that, in reality, typical galaxies contain between 10 million to one trillion star systems, we'll take that claim with a pinch of salt. But who's counting, if the player really is, as Impossible claims, free to choose his own career as a pirate or a merchant, and to supplement the main storyline with varies sub quests and freelance engagements?

With numerous ships at your disposal, weapons ranging from lasers and various missile types to light rays, ten commodity classes to trade across the galaxy and in-game speech, Impossible is certainly risking news writers playing off its name (particularly as the company claims the game will even work on low-end phones such as Nokia Series 30s.)

On the other hand, The Intergalactic Trading Company will instantly remind any old-timers of the never-bettered Elite, which came out over 20 years ago on the creaky BBC Micro.

Whether The Intergalactic Trading Company proves to be elite, or rather mostly harmless, only time will tell – there's no word yet on a release date. (Click 'Track It!' above to be alerted when we review it).
