Publisher Deep Silver has announced it's bringing an updated version of the game The Humans to DS.

For those who haven't played the strategy puzzler before – released for the first time in 1992 – your goal in the game is to guide your humans to complete quests set at the start of each level. Different humans in your tribe need to be set their own tasks and there are deadly hazards and not-so-friendly other inhabitants of the prehistoric world to dodge too, including mammoths and sabre-toothed tigers. There are 14 different types of enemy, and they range from hostile tribe brothers to salivated beasties.

Each of the game's 80 levels (set over eight different worlds) are played up against a clock, just to make them even harder. And as the game progresses you get to dabble with all sorts of significant inventions such as fire, the wheel and certain weapons.

Unfortunately there aren't any screenshots of the game available to have a peek at – just an exciting logo. But we'll keep you updated on this one. It's due for release towards the end of the year on DS (as well as PC).
