Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian coming to DS

Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian coming to DS

Disney has released first details on its upcoming game tie-in for the next The Chronicles of Narnia film. Prince Caspian is due in cinemas on June 27th this year, and the game will be released a week earlier, on June 20th, for DS (as well as Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PS2 and PC platforms).

While the home console and PC versions are in development with Traveller's Tales – maker of the Lego Star Wars series – the DS iteration is being made entirely separately by Disney's own Fall Line Studio.

As a result, the game is distinctly different on DS to the other platforms and, encouragingly, will utilise all of the handheld's unique features.

So attacks are pulled off via the touchscreen and the game horn is activated during battles using the microphone. There's also an option to turn the DS on its side for the storybook narratives.

The overall experience is described as an action-orientated, turn-based RPG, and players get to explore Narnia as more than ten different characters, presumably including the prince himself. It'll feature both traditional RPG elements and puzzle solving.

Other versions of the game include a jump-in-and-out two-player option, but Disney hasn't confirmed what multiplayer component, if any, will feature on DS.

The first Chronicles of Narnia game for DS was a similar RPG-lite experience and not a bad one either so we have some hope for Prince Caspian. We'll keep you updated.
