iPhone gets Wi-Fi multiplayer Texas Hold'em poker game

Apple has turned publisher for the launch of its iPhone App Store this afternoon. It's selling a new version of the Texas Hold'em game that previously game out for iPods.

However, it's got a rather special new feature - Wi-Fi multiplayer for up to nine players. From the product page, it's hard to tell whether that's local multiplayer with people within wi-fi range, or full-on over-the-network multiplayer with players around the world.

Other stuff: the game offers a choice between top-down and first-person views, which you switch between by rotating your iPhone or iPod Touch - first-person is portrait mode, and top-down is landscape.

That's the first-person view above, but here's a shot of the top-down view:

Other stuff 2: there are in-game hints and tips, as well as stat tracking and player ratings. And it costs £2.99, which sounds something of a bargain.

Want to have a squizz? Its product page is here (this will open iTunes on your computer).
