It's been revealed that surprise iOS hit Temple Run is coming to Android.

Temple Run was originally launched as a 99c game in August 2011, yet downloads of the Indiana Jones-esque endless runner only really took off when it switched to a free business model in September.

You can buy in-game currency to unlock customisation options, such as new playable characters and power-ups to get higher scores.

Android-bound

Talking to TechCrunch, developer Natalia Luckyanova said the game had done 20 million downloads with around 7 million daily active users.

Such a success makes it an obvious candidate for release on Android, although the three-person team won't be handling porting duties themselves.

As Imangi's not released any Android games to date, it will be working with a specialist outsourcer. No release date has yet been announced.
