Innovative iPhone music game Tap Tap Revenge is due to pass the one million installs mark this weekend, according to CEO Bart Decrem.

In an interview with TechCrunch, he says the free app has already been downloaded more than 900,000 times.

It's an impressive feat, and should make Tap Tap Revenge only the second iPhone app to pass the million milestone, after Facebook.

What's more, Decrem says that players have downloaded more than 2.5 million songs to use in the game, which is a music rhythm title.

The songs currently being offered are from indie and unsigned artists – unlike the version that came out for hacked iPhones before, the new Tap Tap Revenge isn't allowed to use the music stored on your iPhone.

However, it seems the company is in talks with record labels to release a premium (i.e. not free) version of the game, with tracks from more established artists.
