Tap Tap Revenge 2 trailer unleashed on iPhone

Tap Tap Revenge - the iPhone’s premier (and free) answer to Guitar Hero - has not only done incredible business for its developer Tapulous, with over five million downloads and a couple of premium, branded editions, but it’s actually been proven to help push music sales on iTunes.

So the news that Tap Tap Revenge 2 was on its way got our fingers drumming in anticipation. All of a sudden, the trailer appeared, and the ‘new technology' that Tapulous boss Bart Decrem talked about is quite visible.

This awesome new graphical style (which moves at a fair old lick in the video below) is bolstered by a massive track listing and the promise of new music every week.

Hopefully this’ll include some licensed music too, which isn’t at all unlikely at some point, since Katy Perry apparently did so well from her debut on the original game.

On top of the hot tunes there’ll be a host of multiplayer options. It looks like there’ll be online challenges, a wi-fi head-to-head with friends, and the ever popular two-players-on-one-handset system.

This latter option provides a superb example of Tap Tap Revenge 2’s new graphical approach to the dot thumping gameplay.

We’d previously heard this sequel was to remain free, and although we haven’t heard any new to contradict that possibility, it’s not mentioned in the trailer whether or not we can expect to be drumming our fingers for ‘nowt all over again. Hopefully more news on this soon, so stay tuned.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
