"Democracy is the worst form of government," said Winston Churchill. He was damn right, as I discovered when I invited the rest of the Pocket Gamer team to sift through the hundred or so fake wrestler names that you, our readers, collectively submitted in order win a set of four DVDs signed by the wrestlers of the TNA.

I had already picked a winner in my head, see. But I wanted to share your uniformly brilliant suggestions with everybody to cheer them all up and I did so on the pretext of democracy. I should have known better. Within minutes, a winner – not the one I'd chosen, I should add – had been almost unanimously declared.

I considered overruling everybody, but fair's fair. Democracy is the worst form of government, goes the quote, "except all the others that have been tried."

Bah.

But before we get on with the business of announcing the winner it's worth stressing that the entries were surprisingly great. Some of you went down the road of explosive hyperbole, with suggestions like Lady Carnage, Dr Detonator, The Apocalypse, and – my favourite in this category – simply Inhumane.

Then there were the grim suggestions. King Colon, Dr "Skin Graft" Moriarty, Soul Sludger, The Brain Shaker Taker and The Blood Collector all sound like men who I'd emigrate in order to avoid.

It was the zany submissions that dominated, however. Schwarzenegger's Renegade Muscle Maintenance Deputy was a strong contender. The Ultimate Lobster almost pinched it. Slobby Knockers had some support. Hairy Larry didn't win, but it was a close shave. The Magnificent Spleen was ('insert pun').

But the name that appeared in almost every reply, thereby earning its submitter a pile of four signed TNA Wrestling DVDs, was…

Congratulations to the person who thought up that little gem. Your prize is in the post.

Thanks to the large gentlemen who were kind enough to sign the DVDs, to the TNA for donating them, and to Longtail Studios, whose TNA Wrestling game is available now.
