THQ's iOS Star Wars games not struck down, remain knowably powerful

Earlier this week, Kotaku reported that Star Wars Arcade: Falcon Gunner - along with all other THQ Star Wars games - would be removed from the App Store in a few days because THQ's Star Wars lapses on March 31st.

It seems that Luke and co. have won a stay of execution.

A spokesman for THQ told Kotaku, “All Star Wars apps will be available until further notice.”

The speculation about the games’ removal started after Josh Shabtai, the CEO and creative director of Star Wars Arcade: Falcon Gunner developer Vertigore Games, wrote on his blog that the game would shortly be taken off the App Store.

Shabtai also revealed that Vertigore had wanted to update the augmented reality shooter on iPhone and had also planned to launch the title on iPad and Android.

However, while THQ appears to have used the force to secure a deal that allows the Star Wars games to remain on the App Store, there's no indication of how long they will be allowed to remain there or if developers such as Vertigore will be able to release any new versions of the games.
