T-Mobile America users look set to see the true successor to the G1 announced tomorrow.

There’s a page for the device on the T-Mobile website, lauding the grand old G1 for creating “an entirely new class of mobile phones and apps” and claiming that the G2 “will continue the revolution.” It doesn’t feature any pictures, though.

Fear not, though, impatient readers. Engadget has obtained snaps of the device in the wild, and it’s looking a bit like a Nexus One with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Oh, and an optical trackball in place of a physical one.

Little is known about the specs of the device, other than that it features a 3.7-inch screen and a probable 1GHz processor. It’s been designed to run at 4G speeds on T-Mobile America’s new HSPA+ network.

Looks like the Droid 2 has a bit of competition.
