France-based developer Kando Games has confirmed on its website it is currently working on a game entitled Symphonic Orchestra. But, until now, there's been no further information on it. Or even news on which formats it's being made for.

But reports have sprung up on various internet sites that the title is being developed for DS (as well as Wii and, less obvious, PC). According to these, the game apparently enables players to learn and play popular classical music, including compositions by Verdi and Beethoven in venues across Vienna, Berlin and Paris.

If we may sidetrack for a moment, the only classical music-based game we can think of at the time of typing is the Wii demo Wii Music, which is being made into a full game by Nintendo, to be released in 2008. The Wii console's remote controller obviously lends itself well to being waved around like a conductor's baton, but the DS stylus could work equally as well in a similar game for physically conducting music and playing instruments.

We just hope the speculation is true and Symphonic Orchestra will end up representing the overture of a new musical genre on DS. We'll let you know as soon as we hear more.
