ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove is coming to the Nintendo Switch

Alright Mega Drive fans, raise your hands if the name 'ToeJam & Earl' makes you all kind of nostalgic. Looks like we'll be getting the series' latest installment this year on the Nintendo Switch.

ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove is the long-awaited fourth game in the series. The lucky folks over at Polygon managed to get their hands on it at PAX this previous weekend. Mr. Hall said, "From the shape of that first island, to the speed and rhythm with which the famous Funkotronians walk, the latest entry in the ToeJam & Earl franchise feels like a loving reboot of what made the 1991 original so much fun."

I don't know about you guys but I grew up on this game, and many like it, so to know that the developers have re-examined its roots makes me very happy, especially since some of the previous titles have - er - flopped.

Much like the original game, Back in the Groove will feature random worlds comprised of 25 levels. If you're new to the series, don't worry you'll be able to play through an intro mode. On the other hand if you're a total pro, there's a hard mode to sink your teeth into too.

Though there's no specific release date just yet, ToeJam & Earl is slated to launch at some point this year on the Switch, PC/Mac, and console.
