SINNER: Sacrifice for Redemption is a Dark Souls-like action RPG coming to Switch later this year

It's been an agonising wait with Dark Souls only a month away from being portable (and pausable), but SINNER: Sacrifice for Redemption has certainly given us something else to look forward to this year.

Brought to life by Dark Star Studios, a team of AAA veterans, in SINNER you play as Adam, a soldier with a seriously dark past. In it, you'll have to journey across the land on a quest of redemption to battle seven monstrous bosses based on the seven deadly sins.

While this sounds like a bit of a mix between Dark Souls and Shadow of the Colossus, there's also some neat ideas thrown into the pot.

As the title suggests, sacrifices must be made for Adam to find absolution and before every duel he needs to sacrifice a part of himself. By doing so he'll receive a permanent debuff (such as reduced health and stamina) and the battles will be harder. I mean, you'll also get your hands on some killer gear so it won't be impossible.

Interestingly, if you're finding things too much you can revive an enemy and gain the attribute back until you defeat them again. "Sinner allows the player to choose a difficulty that fits them best while facing off in diverse battles," says the director of developer relations at Another Indie, Iain Garner. "Whether they are in search of the easiest order of bosses to fight or if they want to start the game with the most difficult conditions, Sinner tailors the adventure to them."

SINNER will be available on Nintendo Switch in Q3 2018 for $18.99, and, while it sounds like an interesting idea, I can only hope it lives up to its promise.
