Try Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu/Eevee! before you buy with new demo
Gotta catch a small handful in Viridian Forest
Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu!/Eevee! were the surprise hits of 2018, successfully bringing back the pure joy of playing the original Pokemon games on Game Boy over to a new generation with shinier graphics and new mechanics. Who honestly thought it would be as good as it ended up being?
Well, there may still be some naysayers out there, but Nintendo is rectifying that - you can now grab a short demo of the game on the Switch eShop and try out a slice for yourself to see if it's as bad as you might think it is on first glance.
The demo itself contains a very small slice of the game - you'll be wandering about Viridian Forest, one of the earlier areas in the game, catching Pokemon and maybe even battling other Trainers. It sounds a lot like the demo I saw behind closed doors last year, which totally sold me on the entire game in about five minutes.
Of course, you won't get your hands on the lovely Poke Ball Plus accessory that you can buy for the full version of the game, but you can still get to grips with the single Joy-Con controls that make it so effortless to play.
Seriously, it's really good. We gave it our Silver Award at review, calling it "a simple game with a deep combat system which everyone can enjoy." In my own words, it's just like playing Pokemon Red or Blue for the first time, but with gorgeous graphics and a few remixed ideas here and there.
