The rumour mill is churning once again—this time with hints that Persona 5 might be coming to Nintendo Switch sometime in the future. Persona mega fan, translator, and writer MysticDistance says that several sources are indicating that the game could be coming to Nintendo Switch sometime in 2019.

MysticDistance, according to a report from NintendoSoup, notes that several sources have granted them “rather damning” evidence that Persona 5 will arrive on Nintendo Switch next year. The Switch version will have a new title, and will feature gameplay and “scenario” adjustments, along with other features.

IGN asked Nintendo America CEO Reggie Fils-Aime about the possibility of Persona 5 for Switch, but Fils-Aime declined to comment in any certainty. The executive said:

“You know, I can’t comment on that. Again, from our perspective, we’ve been clear. We want all the best content on our platform. All the best content, all the best developers. And so our job is to continue growing the install base for Nintendo Switch to drive engagement of our players, to grow the audience. As that happens, then developers see the opportunity.”

This past week we learned that Persona 5’s Joker would be the first DLC hero coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which launched last Friday. It’s the first time a Persona character has appeared on Switch, so some are suggesting that this could be a sign of more Persona for Nintendo to come. MyticDistance suggests that the game could be announced for Switch when Joker makes his Smash Bros. debut. Still, it’s all very much guess work for now, but here’s hoping for an official announcement from Nintendo sometime soon.
