Obelus is a pixel art hybrid of sidescroller shooter and story-driven adventure, currently seeking funds on Fig and slated for Switch and Steam.

Working for a powerful megacorp, you're a salesman dispatched to alien worlds, with only the AI of your mech companion to combat the loneliness...and other threats.

Against natural dangers, your mech can shift between various modes: speed, heavily armored defense, and triple-barrelled laser-wielding power. Each is useful in different situations, and jump jets grants your squat heavy mech added agility to leap over charging beasts.

You can exit your mech to defend with a shotgun, but you'll also need to talk with the interesting inhabitants you encounter (and sell them insurance). Your mech is as much as character as it is a weapon, and chatting with its AI and discovering the secrets behind its programming leads to a branching narrative that explores the nature of sentient AI and other themes.

Obelus is currently being funded on Fig (the crowdfunding site behind Psychonauts 2 and Pillars of Eternity 2) and is expected to release in late 2018.
