With My Nintendo you're able to register all the games you've bought for the Switch and you'll get gold points as a reward, you can then use these points to get money off other games, as well as claim special discounts.

It's a nice little loyalty system that rewards your console usage, but now you'll also be able to use these points for your Online subscription - even better!

The Online subscription won't just give you the ability to play online games, you'll also have access to 20 NES games at launch, and even more coming later down the line.

The most recent Nintendo Direct told us a lot more about Switch Online (as well as loads of new games), so check out Emily's wrap-up of all the announcements.

We also learned recently that the battle royale goliath, Fortnite, will not require a Switch Online subscription to play, so perhaps other publishers will be as gracious as Epic Games and let us play without having to spend the extra cash (probably not though).

However, for all Nintendo exclusives, such as Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, you'll have to subscribe to get that good online multiplayer action.

Switch Online goes live on September 18th and will cost £3.49/$3.99 for one month, £6.99/$7.99 for three months, and £17.99/$19.99 for a full year.
