Nintendo Switch system gets video recording, new icons, and data transfer feature in its latest update
|

If you're an avid Switch user you probably know already that Version 4.0 of the system software went live yesterday and it's brought some neat changes with it.

First and foremost, you can now capture video on select games. Compatible with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, and Splatoon 2, all you have to do to capture footage is hold down the screenshot capture button and voila.

The rest of the features I'll pop in bullet point for reading convenience:

  • Icons
    • Just to jazz things up a bit, you've now got 12 more icons to choose from when selecting a user profile. These are from both Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey.

  • Save data
    • In terms of your save data, it may not be cloud saves just yet but you can transfer data across to another device which is a start at least.

  • Pre-purchase
    • Pre-purchasing a game will now allow you to pre-load the software onto the system, letting you start the game quicker once it's been released.

  • News channel
    • The news channel's gotten a makeover and unfollowing a certain channel will now remove all content until it's followed again.

  • Match software
    • After creating a group you'll be able to check you're all up to version 4.0 or higher, and match your software accordingly.

  • General stability/fixes

Read the full changelog on Nintendo's support website right here, and don't forget to update if you haven't done so already.
