The Nintendo Switch's BIG system update lets you find paired controllers, change the display colour, and more

If you haven't heard already, there's been a new Nintendo Switch firmware update come out overnight and it's a bit of a beast.
The main things to take away here are that you can now add friends from your Nintendo 3DS/Wii U lists, change the user icons in the main menu (now including some more Splatoon headers), like/dislike news articles, adjust the maximum headphone volume, and you can invert the colour scheme just to really mess with your head.

Here's the full patch notes for the Switch update 3.0.0:

  • Add Nintendo 3DS/Wii U friends to list.

  • You'll now be notified when friends come online, though these can be turned off.

  • You can search for controllers that are paired to the console by opening the controllers menu and searching.

  • New features in the System Settings allow you to:

    • Choose from six new Splatoon 2 user icons.

    • Change to order in which users are displayed in the top left corner of the Home menu.

  • You can change console's speaker volume from Quick Settings.

  • Maximum volume limit for headphones has increased. You can also lower the maximum volume in System Settings.

  • Connect a USB keyboard to the dock whenever a keyboard is on-screen.

  • Change display colours to Inverted or Greyscale.

  • Like/Dislike button on new articles.

  • Use the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller via wired communication by connecting the USB charging cable.

General system stability improvements:

  • Resolved an issue that caused game software updates to fail and prevented the software from starting

  • Improvements to prevent unintended HDMI input change with certain TVs while the console is docked in Sleep Mode
