One lucky gamer gets the Nintendo Switch early and shows off its operating system

It's been Switch-crazy in the run-up to release and, yes, it's only two weeks away. However one Nintendo fan got extremely lucky and managed to get their hands on the Switch a little early.

According to NeoGAF user hiphoptherobot, the shop they purchased his Switch from might have hiccuped and sent it early to him. After a swirl of fellow GAF-ers requested details about the device, some screenshots and a video were posted showing off the operating system.

It's a pretty standard setup process, following along the lines of confirming your language, date, timezone, and allows you to tackle your handheld and TV setup separately if you want to. You also configure your Joy Cons at this point before moving on to your nickname. Here, you can add up to eight other users onto a single device.

Sadly no games were shipped along with the Switch so there's still no in-game footage available. However, the menu offered some nice touches, such as the choice to change your theme between a black screen or white screen, adjusting the screen brightness, or picking your TV resolution. In the video this only had the option of 480p, but I'd assume it would alter depending on what it's attached to or what game it's playing.

One point to note is that without loaded games, or anything outside of its pre-loaded software, the device sits at 25.9 GB so an SD card will definitely be a smart investment if you plan on using the Nintendo E-Shop a fair bit.

Check out the video and links. Even if there's still a bit to wait before everyone else can get their hands on the device, the forum's discussion is a fascinating read.
