Nintendo Switch - product configurations and specifications
|

This is the bit you guys've been waiting for realistically, so I won't harp on in a lengthy introduction. Compared to Apple or Samsung's spec-heavy keynotes, Nintendo shied away from the technical-side of things, so here's what we know so far.

First of all - the Switch is region free which means no nasty locking! Thankfully Nintendo took a double-take with that idea and decided against it in the end.

Though it actually wasn't talked about in the presentation itself, the specifications confirmed are pretty much what we thought they were going to be. As you'll see above, the layout is simple, complete with a top-facing game card slot, an audio jack for headphones, touch screen, and a brightness sensor.

The internal memory is a pretty standard 32 GB. It doesn't sound like an awful lot by today's standard, but bear in mind that unless you're buying things digitally your games will be on a removable game card. Alternatively, you can expand the memory by using standard SDXC cards.

The screen itself is a 6.2 inch capacitive touch screen which can display a resolution of 1280 x 720.

When you buy a Nintendo Switch, in the box you'll get: a Switch console, a left and right Joy-Con, Joy-Con straps, the Joy-con grip, the Switch dock, a HDMI cable, and an AC adaptor. Pro Controller is available to purchase separately.

There will be two versions to purchase - one with the regular grey controllers, and one with the funky neon blue/neon red Joy-Cons, but both will be the exact same price of $299.99.

You can grab the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller for $69.99, extra Joy-Con controllers for $79.99 (set) or $49.99 (single), the Joy-Con charging grip for $29.99, the Docking Set (including HDMI and AC adaptor) for $89.99, and finally a Joy-Con wheel set for $14.99.

Pre-order reservations will start in Japan on January 21st.
