Bit of a wait

Load times on Monopoly's Switch version range between six and 13 minutes

If you've not yet picked up Monopoly on the Switch but fancy having the relationship-testing game on your device, there's one major thing you should keep in mind before you splash out the $39.99.

If you haven't heard yet, Monopoly has some seriously awful load times at different points in the game, even on local multiplayer. I'd read the articles and forums early yesterday and took them into account, but on attempt to play the game last night it turns out the reports were totally justified.

Last night, loading up the initial menu screen took six-and-a-half minutes. Then, once all of the options were chosen and players listed, it took nearly 13 minutes before I gave up and went to bed.

This morning I tried it again to find another six-and-a-half minute wait time followed by a 13-and-a-half minute wait to start the full game. By that point the battery in my Switch had depleted by 15% and I had to pop it on charge.

The folks over at Kotaku mention that rebooting the system can help speed up these load times, so hopefully that's a decent temporary solution before Ubisoft takes another swing at it.
