Minecraft: Nintendo Switch edition is not running at 1080p docked due to switching issues, could be patched

While Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition seems like the perfect mobile version of the acclaimed builder, it has a few issues in docked mode including the game's resolution that stays at 720p despite being able to output at 1080p.

In its review, TIME mentions that Microsoft seems to have issues with the Switch's shifting mechanic that stops the game from rendering at 1080p.

It looks like this comes from the game's UI which is dependent on resolution and could be tricky to adapt to the game popping up on a bigger screen. Microsoft seems open to patch the game though so you might be able to play the game in full HD with a docked Switch in a near future. You might want to be aware of that fact before buying it though.

Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition is out now on Switch.
